“We couldn’t wait for this tournament to begin”. Jaqueline Cristian and Ana Bogdan are ready for Transylvania Open

Jaqueline Cristian and Ana Bogdan, two of the Romanian players the fans can’t wait to see at the Transylvania Open, met the media on the eve of the tournament.

Jaqueline, when asked how is it to play at home:

„We are very excited to play at home, it’s a different vibe, you feel way better in front of the home fans and they give you a different energy. This is a very beautiful tournament, very well organized, and we are proud to have it here in Romania. We can’t wait”, Jaqueline said when asked how is it to be back on the court after the injury she suffered this year.

Jaqueline, about her expectations:

„Naturally this is a process in which I have to give myself some time. I know there is a lot more to work on, but I feel my tennis is here and I’m pretty confident.  Even if it is October, for me the season is just beginning.”

About her first match, against Wang Xiyu:

„I expect it to be a good match. She is a good player and most Chinese are playing very well because they are disciplined and have a strong mentality. Of course, they benefit from teams and training conditions that not everyone has. So I expect a good match, I have always played well at home thanks to the energy coming from the stands. I am pretty confident, but I will approach each match one at a time.”

The tournament is very special for Ana Bogdan too, especially since she lives and trains in Cluj.

„We are happy to play at home, we couldn’t wait for October to come and Transylvania Open to start. For me it is a true joy to play here, especially considering the fans are now allowed in the stands. I hope BT Arena will be full and the fans will be supporting us throughout the tournament.”

And, when asked what if she would win a second tournament this year:

„Winning a tournament on home ground is like nothing else.  It would be very special for me, but I don’t want to think about that. As I did in Iași, where I trained and focused every day, I took every match one at a time, so I will now. I think this is the most important thing.”

Ana, about her first match, against Jule Niemeier

„I want to approach things step by step and to prepare as I did in the last weeks. She is a very tough opponent, she had a very good season, especially in Grand Slams, so I will take it very seriously. I want to focus on myself and on my game plan.”
